YOUR "HOME" NEXT TO THE SEA

The strange shape of this "sleeve of sand" which is La Manga attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to enjoy this paradise between two seas with it's exceptional climatic conditions. Throughout the length of the 44 kilometres of beach that La Manga has to offer there are many different styles of building, but each one having in common it's proximity to the sea. Those that come to La Manga know that their "home" - even if it is only for the holidays - will be right next to the sea. It would be difficult not to be, as the land at it's widest point is only 1.5 kms. across and in some places is as narrow as 100 metres!

There are a multitude of offices and agencies which are open all year round, and are dedicated to the rental and sale of apartments and houses and also deal with Hotel reservations. As a result of the Mar Menor having been established as a "Nautical Resort" ("Estacion Nautica") there are many offers of accommodation which include courses in your chosen water sport. Many of these offer very special deals during the winter months, which are normally considered to extend from November through to March.

Residential areas mean that the visitor will normally find within easy reach a variety of essential services such as supermarkets, bars, restaurants plus hairdressers, gift shops, boutiques and the not so glamorous but non-the-less essential "ironmongers" that in Spain stock everything from t-shirts to torches! Many, although not all, of these developments have green areas which include a swimming pool and children's play parks.

In addition to the above and those sports and activities mentioned previously there are boat trips on the Mar Menor which leave from various points along the "strip" and these will take you around the islands of the lake stopping at the "Isla Perdiguera" where the "chiringuitos" serve the most delicious fresh sea food and paellas.

There are many different choices for the visitor in respect of accommodation. At the start of La Manga the areas are more densely populated with a proliferation of apartment blocks and Hotels, plus the locations sought out by the youngsters for their night-life. But the further along the strip that you travel so the properties become more spaced apart with beach-side villas and duplexes giving way to completely undeveloped areas on both sides. La Manga is also divided in half due to the presence of two Town Halls - Cartagena is responsible from the entrance going north as far as Monte Blanco and from there until the end of La Manga the responsibility rests with the municipality of San Javier.

The choice of properties available to rent and to buy in La Manga means that there is something for everyone. From small studio apartments to luxury villas in their own grounds - all within a stone's throw from a beach. There are properties built when La Manga was first started in the '60's and there are properties being built today which incorporate the very latest innovations - whatever your choice and price range you will be able to choose a "home" which you can use during the whole year.
